Do the glasses you carry contain lead crystal?

All glasses are made from crystal, some using crystal with 24% lead content while others use lead-free crystal. See the 'Details' section on each product page.

There are small bubbles in the glass, is this a defect?

As hand made products, crystal glasses will often contain small bubbles. This is evidence of the product being created by hand, resulting in each product being unique.

Are glasses using crystal with 24% lead content safe to use?

There are valid concerns regarding the health impact of lead. In terms of glassware, there are concerns with lead being released into food or beverages. According to Health Canada, there is low concern so long as a beverage such as whiskey is not left in the glass for a prolonged period of time. To further minimize the risk, Health Canada recommends you soak new lead crystalware in vinegar for 24 hours and rinse it thoroughly before you use it and hand wash rather than use a dishwasher to clean your glassware as dishwasher detergent may damage the surface of the glassware allowing an increase in the amount of lead to escape when in use.

Is it safe to put whiskey glasses in a dishwasher?

Yes it is safe to put the glasses we carry in a dishwasher however we recommend that all glasses are hand washed to avoid breakage.
